M.Sc. Computer Science with Specialization in Machine Learning
Department of Computer Science, University of Kerala has engraved a strong post graduate culture in computer studies. It provides four streams in Master level programmes: M. Tech Computer Science with specialization in Digital Image Computing, M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Computer Science with specialization in AI, and M.Sc. Computer Science with specialization in ML. The department offers research-oriented programmes, guided by renowned faculty, in a conducive environment for learning, thinking and achieving program specific goals.
M.Sc. in Computer Science with specialization in Machine Learning programme offers students an in-depth understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning. The curriculum is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in core theoretical concepts of various machine learning algorithms and its potential applications in different domains.
Through a curriculum developed in collaboration with industry experts, the course enables critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will adapt to technological changes towards innovations in machine learning. By the end of the program, graduates will be well-equipped to make meaningful contributions to technology and society. The programme prepares students for a career in academia, research, or industry.
Programme Specific Objectives:
i. Develop the skill set for R&D and industry-ready professionals to join the Information Technology field.
ii. Prepare and motivate students to do research in Computer Science and interdisciplinary fields.
iii.Demonstrate advanced skills in designing, developing and implementing software that communicates effectively.
iv. Develop cutting-edge developments in computing technology and contemporary research for society.
v. Develop application skill set in algorithm design, optimization, and improved performance in computing.
vi. Develop advanced knowledge in Advanced Database Management Systems, Big data systems, and Data science techniques.
vii. Understand the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Inference Engines, Speech, Vision, Natural Language Understanding, Robotics, and Human-Computer Interaction.
viii. Unify the knowledge of human cognition, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and data engineering for designing systems.
ix. Demonstrate hands-on knowledge of state-of-the-art Machine learning techniques for real-world problem-solving.
x. Possess the ability to take up advanced innovative development work in the industry and pursue higher research degree qualifications.
xi. Generate a new breed of computer science graduates with a solid Machine learning background and project management skills.
xii. Carry out projects using intelligent cognitive solutions provided by Machine learning algorithms to get more insights into stakeholder management, risk modelling, intelligent resource scheduling and managing project constraints with intelligent data models.
M. Sc Computer Science with specialization in Machine Learning programme comprises theory and practical courses, case studies, industry internship and dissertation work. The programme runs under the Credit and Semester System (CSS). The programme shall be offered with different courses, each with an assigned credit. Candidates are admitted through University entrance examination.
